As muralists, public art is essential to our very being. Engaging, feeling and observing the work in process incites joy, conversation, beautifies community engagement and space. So when we were asked to be apart of the Golden Mile Project, it was a calling we could not ignore.
In choosing a space we looked to Peacock Meadow, as it is a favorite of ours in the Golden Gate Park, and in coming up with the concept for the mural design a few words came to mind that defined both the space and this project. Prosperity and divinity. Meadows have a symbolism of peace, unboundless opportunities and to flourish. While the Peacock, can symbolize strength, power and divinity. This is a reflection of the community of San Francisco.
We wanted to embody this totem within the mural, blessing us all with prosperous divinity and putting smiles of the faces of all those who engage with the piece. We are honored to be apart of this project amongst so many other cool artists and want to thank Illuminate Arts and Paint the Void.
