In October 2024, Solar Arch was added to the Golden Mile at Yellow Dot, and in July 2025 it found a new home down the promenade at Solar Spot.
A Playa to Park art piece, Solar Arch was designed to push the artist’s creative limits. A first for Burning Man sculptures – incorporating solar into the artwork itself. fnnch set out to build a self-contained piece that has power generation, storage, and consumption all within its bounds.
An artwork that can run autonomously for months or years, which makes it the perfect addition to The Golden Mile!
Originally named Solar Bridge to showcase the metaphorical bridge to a future in which energy generation and consumption live increasingly in harmony, fnnch’s hope is that Solar Arch can be inspiration for a more sustainable future.
The exhibit lights up everyday at dusk (off at midnight) and on again for a brief show to delight early birds at dawn.
Solar Spot also features the oversized Chaise of Praise (only kind words for others can be uttered from the chair),and is a premium space for outdoor relaxation.

About the Artist
fnnch believes art is for everyone. Only about 5% of a city’s residents and visitors tour its modern art museum. Street art and murals are art for the other 95%, inspiring and engaging them with the arts.
fnnch creates street art and murals using multi-layered stencils and spray paint. He calls his work “contemporary pop art”, depicting objects from both nature and everyday life. Over time his work has gained a strong following on social media and has been featured by The New York Times, Washington Post, and San Francisco Chronicle.
His public art can be found in San Francisco, LA, New York, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, Tel Aviv and Hong Kong, and his fine art can be found in private collections in 48 states and 20 countries.
